Fossicking with the Kids

Yesterday we decided to go off on a little adventure for the kids to experience something completely new. So we all packed in the car and headed off for our long drive but it has been well worth it. We got into rubyvale at about 6.30pm and had some dinner and for it being so late I must say I have never seen the kids so excited, it was definitely a mission to get them down to sleep haha

Before going to bed we were told that there were possums that lived out the front of our unit and the kids would be able to touch there back so we all sat down and patiently waited. We got to see 2 possums but we’re unable to touch them as the kids were a bit to excited so we will try again tonight πŸ™‚

Up we got this morning and had breaky then headed off to days experience of fossicking for sapphires and doing a walkthrough of an old working mine and got to learn all about the process of drilling for sapphires and I think they only thing the kids took in was that sapphires come from volcanos haha but they were mesmerized the whole time we were underground and they got to see a cute family of microbats

They then got some bags of wash which had cut stones in them and got to sieve and wash their own and the smiles and concentration they had was amazing to see and they really wanted to look at every little one to see if it was one

Off to lunch we went then for a drive and even for me it was a first as we saw wild camels walking next to the main road, I think I was more excited than the kids were haha then home for some rest before heading out again tomorrow πŸ™‚

Will update you all on tomorrows adventure and when we are home I will upload some photos as at the moment we don’t have a lot of reception and they won’t load up. Have a good day πŸ™‚
