So I haven’t shared a little bit about us with you yet. Before this job that my husband took on we lived on a working farm for 2 years when we first moved out and I got to say it was definitely one of funniest moments that everyone in our family enjoyed including where my husband and I got married.

It was hard in the aspect of my husband working from the crack of dawn till dinner time and it was one of the reasons we decided to move on to other work but it also made our minds up and helped us decide that it was eventually what we want to own and do ourselves.

I think the biggest part that everyone loved so much and that the kids wanted to do each and everyday was looking after the animals. We had a good variety of them as well, we had:
- pigs
- sheep
- goats
- cattle
- horses
- chickens
- ducks
- guinea fowl
- dogs
- cats
and if the kids had their way they would go around and feed each and everyone individual one of them but surprisingly it wasn’t always like that for all of them.

When we first moved and our second daughter was around the animals she was very nervous of them unless it was a dog or cat but that could only be one at a time and they couldn’t get any where near her face.

It took time but she started to come more out of her shell over the first couple of months and eventually she absolutely adored all of them. We also have our dog xena and put it this way she is a great dane who when on her back feet she can rest on my shoulders so she is little but she has always been a gentle giant. We have had her since she was 3 months old and from day one the kids loved her and could barely leave her alone. A lot of people say but aren’t you worried she will hurt the kids and not for a second she is so loving of them and all she ever wants is love and cuddles.

The greatest thing about the kids having to help look after animals is giving them the responsibility to care for something and it is rewarding to see them care for something so much to want to look after it. Plus it gives them amazing skills and life lessons that they wouldn’t get in the city.
