Pamper Time

So I figured us mum’s whether you be working or at home are 90% of the time on our feet so I wanted to share some of the relaxing foot scrubs I have used and made for my mum and mother-in-law and they loved them just as much as me and the kids, plus I gotta say even the hubby has used them and they work wonders on tough skin.

I have made a few and its a great little activity that the kids can help you do as well as there are no harmful products in them, plus a bonus is after you have made them it gives you an excuse to go have some you time and a relax.

So my first one I made was a honey and lemon foot scrub and the smell was devine. Honey is used to soothe the skin and lemon is a natural uplifting fragrance so they work really well together. Firstly the ingredients you will need are:

  • 1 cup of Epsom salts
  • 1 cup of Organic Sugar (You can use any sugar brown/white or cane sugar)
  • 2 tablespoons of Raw Honey
  • 1 cup of Melted Organic Coconut Oil
  • 8-10 drops of Lemon Essential Oil
  1. Once you have you ingredients you are going to mix you dry ingredients in a bowl until they are well combined.
  2. Then you will pour in the melted coconut oil slowly as you want your mixture to be a smooth consistency not goopy, so you may not need the full cup.
  3. Next you are going to add the honey and mix in well
  4. And finally mix in your essential oil, you can always add more or less it is really you preference with the aroma you wish to desire.

Then simply run yourself a bath and put some bath salts in which I will write out my recipe for and give you feet a good scrub and let it sit for about 15mins then wash off and after make sure you moisturize and they will feel amazing.

One of the other scrubs I have done is:

  1. Chamomile and lemongrass foot scrub
  • The different ingredients are 2 chamomile tea bags
  • 10 drops of lemongrass essential oil, 5 drops of lavender essential oil (These are instead of the lemon)
  • No honey in this one as well and you can if you want put a couple drops of blue food colouring to give it a beautiful colour

2. Peppermint scrub

  • You can purchase Peppermint Epsom salts for this one which are a natural muscle relaxant
  • Or use peppermint essential oil about 10-20 drops
  • And you can use red food colouring like I have or green which will give a different colour

You can also do salt soaks which are like you bath salts you can buy for example I have used:

1. Rose Bath Tea

To make this you will need:

  • 1 and 1/2 cups of Epsom Salts
  • 1/2 cup of Pink Himalayan Sea Salt (this gives it a beautiful colour)
  • 1/4 cup of Baking Soda
  • 10-20 drops of Rose Essential Oil
  • 1/2 cup of Dried Rose Petals
  • And a couple Muslin Bags (for easy clean up)

Simply mix your dry ingredients together, then add you essential oil and rose petals gently mixing and place in small muslin bag.

You use the muslin bags so that it is easy to clean up as once placed in the water then salts and oil dissolve and disperse in the water while the rose petals stay contained instead of try to go down the drain. You can use it just by placing 1/2 to a cup of the mixture straight in the water and then soak for 20 to 30 minutes.

Other ones I have made are:

2. Lime mint soak

  • Add zest of a Lime
  • 10 drops of Lime Essential Oil
  • You can use the Peppermint Epsom Salts or Peppermint Essential Oil
  • And a drop of Green Food Colouring

3. Peppermint soak

  • Use the same ingredients as the lime mint soak but without the lime
  • And instead of green make it red

Well I hope some of these come in handy and make a great little activity the whole family can enjoy πŸ™‚
