Have you ever thought ‘what would it be like if all the animals at the zoo got out and you had to go chasing them down and herd them up’ well that’s what it feels like going out with all the kids and don’t get me wrong I must say they can be pretty good most of the time but you really have an understanding for why your parents used to say to you “we have eyes in the back of our heads” because by golly you need them haha
And I no they have these great things called double prams and trollies that can atleast contain two kids but they aren’t very useful when you have a 1 and a half year old little boy who is determined to scream down the shop unless you let him out and right about at that point is when he throws one of those cute I love you mummy smiles and a cuddle just so you don’t get angry and just to let you put your guard down and he’ll start again.
And have you ever tried to push a double pram and do your groceries while also making sure little fingers stay away from the items on the shelves only to rush to the register and suddenly you have a dozen items you didn’t need because they have managed to sneak them passed you haha oh it’s a real problem but once again they know how to use that smile of theirs so that you don’t explode
And I swear shops deliberately put toys and lollies right at the level that the kids can reach and then you have to be the bad guy of saying no and just hope that the tantrum doesn’t come, but the worst of all is that the kids always manage to be within sight like right next to the trolly and it takes 1 second of grabbing something off the shelf and you will turn back around and they aren’t there so ofcourse you go into panic mum mode thinking “hell someone has taken my child” only to turn the other way and they are standing there smiling at you and those moments are the ones where you want to get really angry but at the same time cuddle them because you thought the worst had happened.
It’s funny though you never realize how long it takes you to do your groceries until you do one with them and then without, what would normally take you about 30mins to an hour takes close to 2 hours or more because it’s always right when you just start and get your trolley the kids say “we need to go to the toilet” and I remember my mum saying to me “you only want to go to check out the toilet” but it is so true cause half the time they don’t even go.
So at this point you have gone all the way out of the shop and now you have to head all the way back in and start again then once your finally done and been to the toilet again probably atleast twice and have had to stop and feed little ones (quick tip never forget to take your own snacks cause I promise you when in there the kids will always say they are hungry even if they have just eaten) you head for the car thinking you are on the home stretch, so you load all in and get home and after piling all the kids inside you head back out to start getting the groceries and you unpack those, I promise you you would have forgotten something and trust me it is probably one of the important thing you needed so guess what you will have to head back out again to do it all over.
But don’t worry the good news is the older the kids get the more help they will be haha or they will atleast try 🙂
Talk again soon CC ❤
